Project management is usually focused around five groups of activities:
1. initiating the project and defining its scope
2. planning by developing comprehensive schedules and resource allocation
3. executing the plan through coordination and communication
4. monitoring and controlling progress against the plan
5. closing the project by delivering final results and evaluating performance.
Despite the efforts made, the project management process often encounters various challenges that can affect its effectiveness. The most common threats include uncontrolled scope changes, issues related to resource availability, difficulties in maintaining the budget, and challenges in communication with stakeholders. To minimize these threats, it is essential to clearly define the project scope, maintain regular communication, plan resource availability, account for unforeseen budget expenses, formulate a risk management strategy, and adjust plans as necessary. Ultimately, effective project management requires a strong strategy, communication, and adaptability, supporting teamwork to achieve common goals. The aim of the "Fundamentals of Project Management" training is to discuss the above activities, indicate techniques useful for executing each of them, and practice their practical applications through group work. The training is intended for both individuals already managing projects who wish to learn more advanced methods, approaches, and standards, as well as for those without experience who are preparing to manage their first undertaking.
